I was assigned the job of removing a tarp that was protecting the asparagus patch. I immediately realized that ahead of me I had a nice day of work, and by nice day I mean that at the end of the day I would be dirty, sweaty, sore, and maybe bloodied, but also able to look back and feel proud that I accomplished something. All this was true at the end of the day.
After removing tarp for a couple hours, I helped plant some seeds with the others. Ted had us do some other small things. He was trying to get as much done while he had extra hands.
During my time there I spoke with Ted about his farm. We covered topics such as the demands of being a farmer and what it is like to farm on land with a month to month lease. We also talked about some of his future projects. Overall I gained valuable insight on not just farm work, but life and policy. It left me wanting more farm wisdom.
